The Vego Lean-To S Greenhouse is the smallest way to put a real greenhouse by the kitchen door. It’s 4½ ft deep and mounts to the wall of your house, garage, or shed, so it fits a side yard or a walkway, and it’s a few steps from the stove: basil, parsley, and chilies in pots at eye level, and a shelf of seed trays getting the rest of the garden off to an early start.
Behind the convenience, the practical side holds up: insulated polycarbonate glazing, a wall that blocks the wind and gives back the day’s warmth at night, a wide Dutch-style double door, and vents you open with one hand. If you want to grow a little, start a lot, and keep all of it in close reach, this is the one to look at.

A Greenhouse In A Walkway
The Lean-To S needs 8′6″ of solid wall and 4′6″ of ground in front of it, which is the strip beside the back steps, the side yard you walk down single file, or the end of a patio. The 6′ front wall and 7′5″ at the house keep it a room you stand up in, not a cold frame you bend into.
Inside, 34 sq ft is a bench along the wall with a walkway in front: enough for a season’s herbs, a few salad pots, and the trays that become the tomatoes and peppers you plant out in May. And because you pass it on the way to the car, the seedlings get checked every day without anyone deciding to.
Warmer Nights, Thanks To Your Wall
This is where a lean-to beats a freestanding greenhouse of the same size. A masonry wall in afternoon sun soaks up heat all day and radiates it back into the greenhouse at night, taking the edge off the coldest hours and the shoulder seasons. And with the house on one side, there’s one less wall losing heat to the wind.
A wood-framed or vinyl-sided wall still blocks the wind but stores less heat. If that’s your wall, plan on a small heater for hard freezes.

Insulated Panels That Hold Steadier Temps
The roof and walls are 8mm twin-wall polycarbonate with a 99% UV-resistant outer layer to keep them clear. The two layers trap a pocket of air that slows heat loss compared to single-pane glass or film.
Vego’s general figure for 8mm polycarbonate is about 5–10°F warmer inside than out with no heater. With a warm wall behind you and a small volume to keep warm, the Lean-To S is set up for the better end of that range, and a small heater takes it the rest of the way for seed starting in late winter.
Easy To Live With
The wide Dutch-style double door gives you an opening that takes a wheelbarrow, and the low threshold means nothing to lift it over. Open the top halves on a mild day and you get air without letting the dog and the rabbits in; the key lock is on the right-hand door.
Rain off the roof runs into flip-top gutters with downspouts. Closed, they collect water for the garden; flipped open in dry months, they stay clear of leaves.

Built To Stay Outside
The frame is powder-coated, rust-proof aluminum with stainless steel hardware, rated for 62 mph wind and an 18 psf snow load, with a 15-year frame warranty behind it.
18 psf is a moderate rating, so in snow country brush the roof after a big storm and keep the interior warm so snow can melt off. Also, watch for snow sliding off the house roof above it.

What foundation do I need?
Your foundation needs to be level, square, and well-draining—that matters more than the material. A treated wood beam base (anchored) works well for many installs. For maximum stability, go with concrete blocks/pavers or a poured concrete perimeter/slab.
Helpful guides:
Can I attach it to any wall?
It needs a structurally sound wall: concrete, brick, masonry, or a wood-framed wall fastened into the studs. Anchors for both are in the box. Siding, stone veneer, fences, and trellises can’t carry the weight and wind load on their own, so on a sided house it’s anchored through the finish into the framing behind it.
Does the wall material matter?
Yes. Brick, stone, and concrete store the day’s heat and release it overnight, which is where the lean-to’s warmth advantage comes from. Wood or vinyl walls block the wind but store less heat, so plan on a heater for hard freezes.
How much wall do I need?
About 8½ ft of straight wall with 4½ ft of clear ground in front of it. Anything on that stretch of wall, like a window or a hose bib, ends up inside the greenhouse, so check it before you pick the spot.
Is this a heavy-snow greenhouse?
No. It’s rated for 18 psf, which handles ordinary snowfall but not deep, wet accumulation. Brush the roof after big storms, keep the interior warm so snow can melt off, and keep an eye on snow sliding off the house roof above it.
Is it big enough to be worth it?
For herbs, salad greens, and seed starting, yes. 34 sq ft is a full-length bench plus a small walkway, and because it’s against a warm wall by the house, it does the two jobs small greenhouses are best at: early starts in late winter and fresh herbs within reach of the kitchen. If you want to grow tomatoes to maturity or sit inside, look at the next size up.
Are There any accessories I should add?
We always recommend adding an exhaust fan because greenhouses can heat up very quickly in direct sunlight—even on mild days. If you plan to use the greenhouse in winter, you may need a heater as well.
Where does this ship from?
Houston, Texas
How Does Curbside Delivery Work?
Freight delivery drops your crate at the curb/end of driveway. Typically, you’ll unload the contents with the driver and the crate remains on the truck. If you have a forklift or tractor with long forks, you may be able to lower the whole crate using the liftgate. Plan for 2–3 people to help.
Tip: Make sure the truck can access your driveway and you have a clear staging area ready.
