Retractable Roll-up Shade Curtains
Price range: $499.00 through $2,496.00
Features
- Self-retracting acrylic weave with aluminum fibers: rolls up completely when not needed, and the acrylic absorbs moisture for a drier, healthier climate
- Reflects heat rather than absorbing it: Reduces temperatures inside by reflecting light — shading value approximately 55–60%
- Two mounting options: Top mount (ridge, covers both roof sides) or side mount (gutter profile, covers sidewall)
- Available in 6 widths to match your greenhouse dimensions
- Important: Always keep 2–3 rounds of fabric on the roll
What's Included
- Self-retracting shade roll(s) in white/silver
- All mounting hardware
- Mount types explained:
- Top: two rolls in one fixture — hangs with chains from the ridge beam or rafters and pulls out to cover both sides of the roof
- Side: single roll — mounts against the inside of the gutter profile or the bottom of the rafters, covering one sidewall section
- Modern: single rolls for shed-roof structures, attached via bolt channels — sold as complete sets sized to your greenhouse: Modern 23 includes 2 shade units, Modern 34 includes 3, and Modern 36 includes 4
- Gigant / Gigant Extra Long: two rolls in one fixture — same ridge-hung design as Top, with longer fabric for larger roofs
Dimensions
Width — this is the Size you select above:
39 3/8″, 47 1/4″, 59 1/16″, 78 3/4″, 88 9/16″, or 98 7/16″
Gigant rolls are available in 59 1/16″ and 78 3/4″ widths only.
Usable pull-out length — this is shorter than the full fabric length because 2–3 wraps must always remain on the roll to keep the fabric attached and under tension:
- Top / Side: 6′6″ (8′ fabric)
- Modern: 8′6″ (10′ fabric)
- Gigant: 10′ (11′6″ fabric)
- Gigant Extra Long: 11′6″ (13′ fabric)
Never use a roll in an application longer than its usable pull-out length. Extending the fabric fully will cause it to fray or detach from the roll.
Assembly & Warranty
5-year warranty: made by Hoklartherm in Germany
Compatibility
- Universal accessory: made to fit any greenhouse with channel-system framing (the mounting hardware attaches via the frame's bolt channels)
- An excellent match for the Livingten Insulated Glass Greenhouse, which these curtains were originally designed around
- Also fits Janssens Victorian greenhouses: a standard glass section is 29.5″ wide, so the 59″ and 88″ widths align neatly with two or three sections
- Modern mounts fit shed-roof structures

Description
These retractable roll-up shade curtains give you on-demand shade control — without the permanent look of a fixed shade cloth. Made by Hoklartherm in Germany, they’re a universal fit that works with nearly any greenhouse: when you need shade, you roll them out, and when you don’t, they retract fully and sit discreetly against the ridge or gutter, leaving your view through the glass unobstructed.
The white/silver fabric is an acrylic weave with aluminum fibers that reflects light rather than absorbing it, cutting interior temperatures with a shading value of about 55–60%. The acrylic also absorbs evaporative moisture, which helps keep the air inside drier and less prone to fungus — something a plastic shade cloth can’t do. Two mounting configurations are available: top mount covers both sides of the roof from the ridge, side mount covers one sidewall section at a time.
Sizing tip for Victorian greenhouse owners: a standard glass section is 29.5″ wide, so the 59″ and 88″ curtains align neatly with two or three glass sections. Not sure which size fits your model? Give us a call — we’ll figure it out together.
Important: Always keep 2–3 rounds of fabric remaining on the roll — don’t extend to the full fabric length. See the Dimensions section for the correct usable pull-out length for your mount type.
