Description
The Exaco Solar-Powered Greenhouse Exhaust Kit is a self-contained ventilation system that runs entirely on solar energy — no wiring, no electrician, and no ongoing electricity cost. It’s a particularly good fit for greenhouses located farther from the house, where running power isn’t practical, or for anyone looking for an off-grid setup. The fan moves 1,280 CFM to bring temperatures down quickly and keep air circulating through the growing space.
The kit centers around a whisper-quiet 16″ brushless motor fan paired with a 50W solar array made up of two panels. The panels can be installed across the ridge or side by side, and the mounting supports allow for flat or angled positioning — giving you flexibility to maximize sun exposure based on your location. One thing worth knowing: output is tied to available sunlight. On cloudy days or when the panels aren’t in direct sun, the fan may run at a lower CFM than rated. The included battery box lets you store excess solar energy in two 12V batteries (not included) so the fan can continue running after dark or during low-light periods.
The built-in programmable thermostat takes the guesswork out of temperature management — set your target and the fan handles the rest. For best results, mount the exhaust fan high on one wall where heat collects, close nearby roof vents, and place the optional intake vent lower on the opposite wall, so cooler air is drawn across the full length of the greenhouse.
For glass greenhouses, a Lexan panel is available as an optional add-on to replace the glass at the installation point — add a note at checkout or email us if you need one.

Will the fan run on cloudy days or at night?
The fan is designed to run primarily on direct solar power, so output is tied to available sunlight. On cloudy days or when the panels are not in direct sun, the fan will still run but may move less air than the rated 1,280 CFM. For nighttime use or extended low-light periods, the included battery box lets you store excess solar energy in two 12V batteries (not included) to keep the fan running when the sun isn’t out.
Which fan size do I need?
That depends on the size of your greenhouse. The easiest way to find out is to use our CFM calculator — just enter your greenhouse dimensions and it’ll tell you which fan size fits your setup.
Where should I install the fan and the intake vent?
Mount the exhaust fan high on one side of the greenhouse, where heat naturally collects. Place the intake vent lower on the opposite end of the greenhouse so cooler outside air gets pulled across the length of the greenhouse before exiting.
Should I disable my automatic roof vents when using the exhaust fan?
Yes, if this is your main active ventilation setup. If the roof vents are open, the fan will pull air through the closest opening rather than drawing it across the full length of the greenhouse, which reduces how effective the system is.
Can this fan be installed in any greenhouse?
Yes — it’s not brand-specific and can be fitted into any greenhouse. You’ll need to cut an opening in the wall panel to mount it, so make sure you select the right size for your structure before installing.
If you have a glass greenhouse, tempered glass can’t be cut safely, so a Lexan panel is used in its place — you’d remove the glass panel, cut the Lexan to fit, and install the fan or intake through that. We can include a Lexan panel with your order, just leave us a note at checkout or send us an email before ordering.
